My parents recently bought me an awesome pencil sharpener so I naturally pulled out my pack of 12 Verithin pencils and started sketching with them. I find that using a hand-held sharpener makes the process of sketching in pencil annoying because when you have to sharpen the pencil in a manual sharpener, the lead always manages to break itself and even get lodged in the sharpener preventing further sharpening. This is why the rotary sharpeners are superior. Here's an example of what to look for inside a good pencil sharpener:

These rotary blades can now be found in automatic sharpeners--definitely recommend these to anyone who goes through several pencils a day.
With that said, I really enjoyed moving back to Verithin's. It has helped me sketch on a much larger scale, which I am told is very good for the learning process.
