I just created this "Mr. Freeze" type character and I thought I would share it. The sketch by itself looked so bland that I couldn't stop myself from photoshopping it. Again I used the rope technique which is a bit tacky understandably-- as well as the ripple effect on the end of the gun (that you can't see because it was drawn terribly). The background image is set to a blending effect beneath another layer that I blurred vertically. When I merged the layers together I did some final touching up with burn and dodge tools. The end result looks "spacy" which for some reason David Bowie popped into my head-- hence "Ziggy".
